Iberian Funeral Plans are a product offered in Spain & Portugal by Iberian Funeral plans LDA and its partner companies ISF SL in Spain and in the UK, where plans are managed when a client chooses to pay in Sterling/card, by IFP – Iberian Ltd
Through ISF SL (Iberian Servicios Funerias) we are able to offer additional services beyond the traditional Iberian plans – Beech, Cedar and Oak. ISF can provide bespoke funeral services for those without a plan. It manages our funeral services through a group of independent approved Funeral Directors – manages our 24 hour in house bereavement helpline so ensuring you get the response you want at your time of need. Our funeral directors offer a quality service allowing us to ensure the plan benefits are deliverable.
Our core business remains the Iberian Plans – which are fixed cost and offer full plan benefits in Spain and Portugal with no hidden extras. But it must be pointed out that outside of these countries the plan value will be a contribution to costs – in the UK the price of funerals has risen dramatically over the past 3 to 4 years, as we all know the exchange rate is not helping anyone consequently whilst the plan benefits are transferable to the UK and your plan can be used, the plan value will not cover the cost of disbursements and you will need to either upgrade to a UK Plan or make up the shortfall at the time of need. This is a situation that is outside of our control and since June 2016 we have been advising our UK resident clients and those contemplating moving back of this issue.
The upgrade cost is competitive and ensures the plan you have paid into is fully operational – we cannot though provide these plan benefits if we do not know where you live, our plans are based on your residence being in Spain and on Spanish costs.
An option for those new to Iberian Plans and for those who split their time between the UK and Spain is to take out a UK plan to provide full cover of the benefits there and should depth occur in Spain we will refund the cost of the upgrade
One other point to note is that a new law has been introduced with regards to Spain that embalming of the deceased must happen within a certain timescale (this is gradually being rolled out across Spain) please note that embalming is not included within the plan benefits or costs and is an extra charge payable to the funeral director should it be required.
