It is believed in the press and by certain bodies in the UK that we are a UK funeral planning company

THIS IS NOT TRUE

Whilst regulation of the funeral planning market came into force on the 29th July 2022 this affects ONLY UK Companies.

We have worked with the FCA and one of their approved compliance companies and have been advised :

“Our understanding is that all of Iberian’s plans are sold to ex-pat customers to cover the costs of their funeral in Spain, Portugal and their offshore islands. These funeral plans are sold outside the UK and the funeral is also provided outside the UK. Therefore, these particular plans will fall outside the FCA’s rules and Iberian does not require FCA authorisation in this situation.”

“Where Iberian sells funeral plans to ex-pat customers who reside in the primary locations and the funeral is also delivered in these locations, Iberian will not require FCA authorisation.”

“In summary, the FPCOB rules will not apply to Iberian funeral plans sold and serviced outside the United Kingdom. Therefore, Iberian does not need to be authorised by the FCA to sell and provide non-UK funeral plan contracts.”

As stated in our documentation and terms and conditions Iberian Plans are sold in Spain, Portugal and the Offshore islands for provision of services in those countries.

Some clients choose to return to the UK – obviously our plans are priced in € and the £ cost of a funeral in the UK is greater than Spain or Portugal, we have in the past been able to support those of our clients who have returned to the UK.

We have agreements in place to transfer UK based client plans (those who return to the UK) to a leading UK FCA approved provider, if this is not possible or acceptable then we would refund the plan in accordance with our terms and conditions, or you have the right to cancel.

Unfortunately this situation has been forced on the Company by UK regulations but does NOT apply to our clients who live in Spain and Portugal – as stated above Iberian will not require FCA regulation.

COVID-19 Announcement
March 2020
Please be assured that Iberian remain open during the COVID-19 lockdown. In such uncertain times, we are here to help with information and guidance. The Covid issue is not one that will go away soon and no one can predict future variants or the actions that will be taken by Governments in dealing with them.
We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented level of new applications, and increased enquiries from existing plan-holders. We are following Government guidelines, with the majority of our team now working remotely. In light of this, you may experience some delays in response times across our sales, general administrative, finance processes, and increased call waiting times. We thank you in advance for your patience.
If the reason for your call is not urgent, please contact us by email
